Our approach
We make a positive difference in our communities by providing innovation and creative communications solutions to our clients. But we recognise that we can go beyond this, and respond to such expectations where we can.
Employee involvement
We do not have a formal group-wide volunteering programme, believing that the best way to encourage our people is by giving them the freedom to pursue issues that matter to them. Some companies have introduced their own volunteering policies, developed in conjunction with employees, to offer employees more support in pursuing their volunteering interests.

People from across Chime Group are involved in a whole range of charitable activities, either individually or through whole agency efforts. These activities are regularly profiled in the Week at Chime (our weekly internal newsletter).

In 2006 we launched our Give As You Earn scheme, and we actively promote this to employees through our internal communications. A focus for 2009 is increasing take up in the scheme through an internal communications campaign.
Pro bono and discounted work
As a services company, one of the most impactful ways we can support charitable organisations is through pro bono and discounted work. The Chime Group comprises a broad range of businesses, which is reflected by a plethora of different skills from marketing to public relations to research. We have offered this expertise pro bono, providing over £300,000 worth of free work to community organisations during 2008.

Young people in local community
One of our goals is to support young people in the local community who come from underprivileged backgrounds, by providing opportunities that would not otherwise be open to them. To achieve this, we plan to expand our work experience and intern programme so that a set number of opportunities are given to young people from deprived communities in London each year.
- We have gained a better understanding of our total community contributions by introducing an annual survey of business and individual activity.
- In 2008 we gave a total of £36,567 to charitable causes and undertook £311,080 in pro bono work.
