Thursday, 15 May 2008

O2 has appointed VCCP and Avenue A Razorfish for the task of re-designing their O2.co.uk website.

The agencies chose to approach the pitch as a combined team to offer best in class thinking and delivery across brand and online strategy, information architecture, creative, design and technical production.

The combined agencies have nearly a decade of combined experience working with O2. Avenue A Razorfish work across web architecture and build projects whilst VCCP are responsible for brand strategy and advertising, amongst other communications activities. It was the proven track record and understanding both agencies demonstrated of O2 that led to the combined offering being chosen ahead of both Agency Republic and AIS.

Michael Sugden, managing director from VCCP stated “Our pitch emphasised the need for one coherent strategy. Combining creative, design and technical from both agencies allows us to approach this massive task with an unrivalled combination of abilities”

Chris Perry, Avenue A | Razorfish managing director, concluded, “Digital innovation requires all parts of the marketing mix to join up. That’s why this marriage is interesting for O2 because it provides a new way to improve the brand experience at every point at which the customer comes into contact with O2.”

Andrew Pattinson, Head of Online Operations and Delivery at O2 said “Joining forces made the case for VCCP and Avenue A | Razorfish extremely compelling. It is an approach that offers us the perfect blend for a project of huge strategic and commercial importance to the business.”

The new site will launch at the end of July 2008, and a range of initiatives, on and offline, are planned to support and follow up on the site launch.
