Barclaycard’s head of public relations, Ian Barber, joins Good Relations today as a director leading the corporate and consumer teams. He has spent the last six years at Barclaycard handling media relations through a period of intense media and political scrutiny including a Treasury select committee into rising debt, the OFT intervention into bank charges and a competition commission inquiry on PPI.
Barber previously reported into Good Relations Managing Director, TA Dunleavy, at global agency Porter Novelli where they worked together on the campaign that saw Toyota win the coveted European Car of the Year award.
His arrival comes hot on the heels of Director, Neil Foster, who joined last week from the DDB Group in Australia. Neil joins with extensive corporate and consumer digital experience and was last year’s winner of the prestigious Golden Target award that recognizes outstanding creativity in digital work for his match.com programme. Prior to moving to Australia, Foster held an in-house communications role at Yahoo and agency roles with Fuse PR and Bite in London.
Barber and Foster are the second traunch of big signings for the agency following recent hires including Emma Park from Porter Novelli and Kirstin Kaszubowska and Claudine Moyle, both previously of Weber Shandwick.
