Bell Pottinger North, part of Britain’s top ranking public relations consultancy, has secured a deal to build the awareness and reputation of Dunlop Aircraft Tyres among civil and military aircraft operators and maintenance companies worldwide.

Birmingham-based Dunlop Aircraft Tyres, with a history spanning almost 100 years, is the world’s only specialist aircraft tyre manufacturer and, as the market expands, the company plans to raise the profile of its products and retreading services.

Macclesfield-based Bell Pottinger North will run a global communications programme that includes building and developing relationships with specialist aerospace magazines.

“Dunlop Aircraft Tyres is well placed to take advantage of increased aircraft production and rising air traffic,” said Bell Pottinger North director, John Butters.

“The market for aircraft tyres is expected to rise by around five per cent a year and we are responsible for ensuring that Dunlop Aircraft Tyres gets its message across within this competitive industry.

“While technological developments in other parts of the aerospace industry are often naturally more interesting for the press, we will raise the importance of tyres and give Dunlop Aircraft Tyres a voice on important issues affecting the marketplace.”

Butters reports to Dunlop Aircraft Tyres’ sales and marketing director, David Skepper. “We were impressed by Bell Pottinger North’s track record in the industry, and its understanding of the aviation sector,” he said.

“We have a number of strategic announcements coming up and so it was important that our public relations consultancy could hit the ground running. Bell Pottinger’s experience will be of great benefit.”

Bell Pottinger has considerable experience of working within the aviation sector, with clients including air carriers Emirates Airlines and VLM Airlines, as well as organisations such as Dubai Aerospace and Dunlop Aerospace Braking Systems.
