Michael Cover, Accredited Mediator and Chartered Arbitrator, FCIArb, CArb
Michael is the Principal of Michael Cover ADR Limited. He has over 30 years experience as a Solicitor, both in private practice and as in-house Counsel. He is an accredited Mediator with CEDR, ADR Chambers and ADR Group and has been involved in around 70 mediations. He is a full member of In Place of Strife, the Mediation Chambers.
Michael is also a member of the Sports Resolutions UK Panel (Panel of Mediators), as well as being a member of the Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators of Just Sport Ireland, the Irish National Sports Disputes Resolution body. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Chartered Arbitrator and, as such, is one of the very few people dual-qualified as a commercial and an arbitrator.
Michael regularly mediates a wide variety of disputes relating to Intellectual Property (including patents, trademarks, designs, copyright, trademarks and domain names), IT, professional indemnity, computer law, competition/anti-trust law, sports and media, financial services and maritime disputes. He has both acted for both clients in the pharmaceutical industry and been involved in mediations in that industry. He is a member of the Mediation Panel of the Court of Appeal and has mediated disputes referred from that source.
Michael is an active member of a European Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. In addition, he is a member of the Practice and Standards Committee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He has recently become a Professional Member of the Disputes Board Federation.
Michael is a regular writer, speaker and presenter on ADR topics and will be one of the presenters at the forthcoming Chartered Institute of Arbitration Meditation Symposium during October 2009.
Michael has a particular interest in mediation of cross-cultural disputes and has mediated disputes in French.
