THE FOOD AND DRINK FEDERATION (FDF) has appointed Bell Pottinger to work with it on a range of issues following a three-way pitch.
A team headed by Kevin Read, Business & Brand, and Liam McCloy, Public Affairs, is focusing on highlighting the considerable progress that the food & drink industry has made in the last twelve months in helping to meet the Government’s healthy eating agenda.
Melanie Leech, Director General of the FDF said:”We are currently seeing a lot of movement on such issues around the restriction of advertising to children and labelling of foods: we want to help the public, the media and policy makers understand how the industry is taking practical action, which is why we’ve chosen to use Bell Pottinger to help us in the forthcoming months.”
Early focus will be on a co-ordinated industry-wide response to the forthcoming OFCOM consultation on advertising to children and the FSA’s recommendations on food labelling.
Kevin Read, Managing Director, Business & Brand said: “There are so many positive food stories to tell. We want to ensure the public and policy makers know that the industry is behaving responsibly. ”
