Good Relations appointed to publicise the Home Heat Helpline

Wednesday, 22 March 2006

The Energy Retail Association (ERA) has appointed Good Relations to help it raise the profile of a new, free Helpline (The Home Heat Helpline) which will target vulnerable customers and assist in the fight against fuel poverty.

The Home Heat Helpline has been set up by the ERA on behalf of its members, the big 6 UK gas and electricity suppliers. It is the first time that all energy customers who have difficulty with heating their home or paying for their gas and electricity, will have one free number to call, no matter who supplies their energy.

Good Relations will be running a number of national campaigns during 2006 designed to raise the profile of the Helpline and the services it offers, to a range of vulnerable customers on low incomes, including the elderly, people with disabilities, single parent families and families on benefits.

Good Relations won the contract after a competitive pitch and the team will be headed by Associate Director Darren Young reporting to Niki Bowles, the ERA's Media & Communications Manager.

Darren Young said: "We are very much looking forward to working with the ERA team and to the challenge of such a high profile campaign at a time when many customers are still unaware that help is at hand."

Niki Bowles from the ERA said: "Good Relations demonstrated strategic thinking and some great creative ideas designed to help us reach vulnerable customers. Getting help to these people is a top-priority for us".
