Good Relations has been appointed by Motability, the UK’s leading car scheme for disabled people, to handle all PR and communications support around its 30th anniversary celebration on 13th June. This milestone occasion will be taking place at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in the presence of Motability’s Chief Patron, Her Majesty The Queen.
This event will mark the Motability Scheme’s role in supporting the mobility needs of disabled people, particularly those who have become disabled whilst serving in the Armed Forces and the Emergency Services. The Queen, accompanied by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, will officially present a number of Motability customers with their cars, showing a broad representation of the people who benefit from the Motability Scheme.
Motability was established by Lord Sterling GCVO CBE, the Scheme’s Chairman, and the late Lord Goodman CH, to provide affordable mobility solutions to disabled people. Their idea was for people to use their government funded mobility allowance to lease or buy a new car to enable them and their families to gain freedom and independence..
Led by Good Relations Managing Director, Teresa-Anne Dunleavy and Director, Christine Morgan, the team will report into Motability. Key objectives for the campaign are to generate mass awareness and understanding of the Motability Scheme and its mission to provide affordable, trouble-free motoring to disabled people.
“We are delighted to be working with Motability to build awareness for this high-profile event and communicate the great work that the Scheme and its partners undertake,” comments Teresa-Anne Dunleavy of Good Relations.
Don Brereton CB, Director of Motability, adds: “Since its inception, Motability has provided over 2 million new cars to disabled people, making a real difference to their everyday life, their families and their carers. The Scheme’s success is the result of a unique partnership between the charitable sector, the Government, leading banks and the motor and insurance industries. This 30th anniversary is an important milestone in Motablity’s history and an ideal platform to raise awareness of the Scheme.”
