Fast Track has held the account since 2004 and was involved in a competitive five-way tender before being reappointed this week. The procurement process was managed by the Big Lottery Fund through OJEU.
Fast Track was first appointed by the NLPU in the run up to the 2004 Olympic Games to generate positive awareness about The National Lottery’s investment in sport. The agency has since gone on to place regular features about elite Lottery-funded athletes through media partnerships with national newspapers including the Daily Express, the Daily Mail and the Independent on Sunday.
Upon reappointment, the agency has been tasked to deliver a two-year campaign highlighting Lottery investment into sport, in particular elite level athletes and facilities, in the run up to Beijing 2008 and London 2012.
Rebecca Neale, Senior Media Relations Manager at the NLPU, said: “Following a very competitive pitch we are delighted to be continuing to work with Fast Track. As well as demonstrating that their sports media contacts and access to athletes is second-to-none, we were also very impressed that as the incumbent agency they were able to come up with such a creative, fresh approach to the campaign.”
Fast Track Managing Partner, Andy Westlake, commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to be continuing our relationship with the NLPU. This has been a fantastic account for Fast Track since 2004 and we look forward to continuing to promote The National Lottery’s investment in sport. We didn’t rest on our laurels in the pitch and are proud of what we feel is a creative campaign, underpinned by robust qualitative and quantitative research with the Lottery-playing public at its core.”
Rebecca Neale will continue to lead the account on a day-to-day basis for the NLPU whilst Nick Garcia and Kate Silvers will lead the account at Fast Track.
The NLPU will continue to work with Geronimo Communications and Red Communications on consumer campaigns in 2008.
