PENTAX Lifecare hires De Facto Communications to increase global awareness of its gastro-intestinal range of endoscopes

Tuesday, 08 May 2007

De Facto Communications, Bell Pottinger Group’s healthcare and lifescience PR company, has been selected by PENTAX Lifecare to provide publicity to support the launch of its confocal microendoscope in the UK.

Pentax’s new confocal endomicroscope is a ground-breaking system enabling endoscopists, for the first time ever, to obtain a three-dimensional view of tissues down to a depth of 250 microns; allowing them to perform real-time visual biopsies.

De Facto is working exclusively for PENTAX Lifecare to launch the confocal endomicroscope and is also promoting the complete gastro-intestinal range of endoscopes. With the confocal endomicroscope, consultants can carry out a visual examination of the oesophagus or colon as well as removing tissue for a biopsy on the spot saving time for patients and potentially save lives. In many cases, the need to take a physical biopsy can be removed as the confocal system reveals enough detailed information, there and then, to make a diagnosis.

“De Facto Communications is pleased to have been selected by PENTAX Lifecare for the provision of medical education and PR to launch and promote its endoscopes. De Facto will aim to help PENTAX with ideas and concepts to grow its considerable market share in endoscopy. We will also help launch the Sheffield Academy of Endomicroscopy, supported by PENTAX Lifecare, later in the year”, said Marcel Kay, Director, De Facto Communications.
