Friday, 20 June 2008

TAG Farnborough Airport has appointed Bell Pottinger Public Affairs to provide public affairs support. BPPA’s remit is to advise on all aspects of engagement with key political stakeholders and to increase awareness of the airport and the important contribution it makes to the UK economy.

The appointment, which will last for an initial 12 months follows, BPPA’s appointment in January to work with TAG Farnborough on its consultation strategy for the airport master planning exercise.

Director of BPPA’s Planning and Community Engagement practice, Emma Waterfall, said:

“We are delighted that TAG Farnborough has decided to build on our existing successful relationship to take advantage of our expertise in planning and in government communications. Our consultants have unrivalled experience and networks and we are looking forward to working with TAG Farnborough to deliver them the profile and recognition they deserve.”

The TAG Farnborough account will be headed by BPPA Associate Director Chris Parr, former Private Secretary to Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott. David Wilson, Chairman of Bell Pottinger Public Relations will also provide strategic advice on the aviation industry.

Farnborough was the UK’s first airfield and hosted the country’s first powered flight in 1908. In 1997 the Ministry of Defence began transfer of control of the airfield to TAG Aviation with the understanding that the facility would be used solely for business aviation and the Farnborough International Airshow. The Government has designated Farnborough a main entry airfield for Business Aviation for London and the South East of England.

Following substantial investment in cutting edge new infrastructure and facilities, TAG Farnborough Airport is now the most modern and efficient business aviation airport in Europe, providing a major gateway into London.
