Resonate will work with the Tesco CR team to promote the 2008 voucher collection scheme, now in its 17th year. Tesco Computers for Schools will launch in March 2008 for a 10 week period, but Resonate will be promoting the campaign from January. The emphasis will be on educating the public that the scheme is about a lot more than just computers; it features musical instruments, reference books, arts and crafts materials as well as technical equipment including digital cameras. Since the scheme began in 1992, £118 million worth of equipment has been presented to UK schools by Tesco and in preparation for the 2008 campaign, 600 million vouchers are being printed with an expectation of over 400 million being collected.
Debra Stones, Head of Corporate Responsibility said, “Tesco Computers for Schools is about to enter its 17th year. It has been enormously successful but its longevity means that we need to keep it fresh which is why we wanted to review our PR approach.”
Sophie Knight, Associate Director, Resonate said, “Obviously we are delighted to have won the Tesco Computers for Schools business. It’s great to be involved with such a long running and well respected scheme that provides genuine benefits for the country’s schools.”
